Beginning Again

Beginning Again

sometimes a thread is pulled so hard
everything unravels
leaving a gaping wound

a dark vacuum of empty space
sucking in shards of the past
ripped apart til they bleed

I'm unwinding, spilling out loose
stuffing back the odd pieces
a disappearing trail

I trace the blackness on its edge
a burning cold stings my skin
you really are gone now

I stab the needle through a loop
sliding smooth into the weave
pull tight, stab through, pull tight

Slowly the knit comes together
bringing integrity back
wholeness albeit scars

sometimes a thread is pulled so hard
everything looks warped
new form presents itself

it is the moment of beginning again.
shedding skin, wearing it like a feather boa
